                                                                                      Head of Environmental Sustainability

 

The Head of Environmental Sustainability is a key department global leader responsible for helping the company reduce its environmental footprint. It is a brand new position and the person in the role will need to build the department. The position is responsible for defining, driving and implementing the company’s Environmental Sustainability strategy. The position will contribute to the elaboration of the company’s standards for environmental sustainability and implement them across the Triumph Group; maintain related management system, documents and tools for driving environmental sustainability across the Group; provide expert environmental sustainability advice to the Group and advocate the importance of environmental sustainability to enhance the company’s innovation and competitiveness in the market. The position work will work closely with a variety of departments such as material, brand, communication, sourcing and will report into the global head of sustainability.

 

Key responsibilities:

  • Strategy
    • Develop the Triumph environmental sustainability strategy together with the Global Head of Sustainability
    • Define the environmental sustainability strategy objectives, targets and responsibilities
    • Issue detailed environmental sustainability strategy implementation plan
    • Support development of reporting metrics and system on company’s environmental sustainability performance
  • Strategy Implementation
    • Manage the implementation of the environmental sustainability strategy defined objectives, targets and responsibilities
    • Continuously review and update implementation programmes to improve sustainability strategy implementation effectiveness.
    • Develop and continuously improve the environmental sustainability performance management tools necessary to the environmental sustainability strategy implementation.
    • Develop, calculate and monitor all strategically defined environmental targets
    • Develop, monitor, review and update environmental sustainability management system as needed: policies and related procedures development, SOP training content development, SOP training delivery, audit of all procedures’ implementation, and pragmatically support the company to bridge the gaps between the actual practices and the expected standards.
    • Develop environmental metrics system and ensure environmental data tracking and recording is completed
    • Manage all ad hoc environmental sustainability projects
  • Communication and stakeholder management
    • Develop communication material on the Triumph environmental sustainability programmes and performance for internal and external stakeholders
    • Conduct sustainability awareness raising communications within the Triumph Group (presentation, articles etc.)
    • Support communication and attend physical meetings when needed with internal and external stakeholders on Environmental Sustainability topics. This includes external stakeholders’ inquiries (clients, etc.), requests for information on company Sustainability efforts, etc.
    • Participate in the relevant internal or external expert working groups as required
    • Influence a large team of sustainability practitioners within Triumph group
    • Establish robust relationships with all internal and external (clients, industry experts, etc.) stakeholders in order to contribute to the creation of a pleasant, healthy and efficient work environment.
  • Direct reports management
    • Hire and train all direct reports as per hiring plan and budget.
    • Manage performance (cascading of objectives and delivery of job expectations) and talent development of all direct reports
    • Ensure direct reports engage in productive, continuous and timely interactions with other sustainability staff and any other relevant department.
    • Ensure new team members receive all required orientation training.
    • Manage all direct reports requests and processes.

 

Qualifications and skills

  • University graduate with at least 10-15 years of work experience in an environmental position
  • Environmental engineering or environmental science background is preferred
  • A strategic thinker with the ability and will to conduct hands on work when required
  • A profound passion for the environment
  • Humble
  • Data driven with strong knowledge in environmental metrics, life cycle analysis, reporting standards, carbon accounting schemes
  • Proven experience in implementing GHG protocols
  • Strong analytical and organizational skills
  • Good communication and presentation skills and solid ability to influence people
  • Positive demeanour focused on solution finding
  • Ability to work in a multi-cultural environment
  • Independent, pro-active, pragmatic
  • Very fluent in both written and spoken English

 

Location: The position will be preferably located in our Hong Kong offices

Other: Occasional travelling (within Asia and to Europe) is required for this position (approximately 10% - 15% of the time)
