                                                                                      National Sales Manager

 

Purpose of the Job:

Responsible for channel distribution growth/expansion and overall achievement of sales targets set for the total business, managing cost to serve and business plan execution with key accounts and various trade partner groups.

 

Roles & Responsibilities:

Sales Objectives

  1. Drive and lead team of sales executives to achieve sales targets
  2. Track and review closely daily/weekly/monthly /quarterly sales by different channels

Sales Forecasting

  1. Prepare monthly and yearly sales forecast for submission to management and regional/head offices

Trade Relations Building

  1. Be in the forefront of building positive trade relations and goodwill between Company and business partners and also ensure that the interest of the Company is protected at all times

Business Development

  1. Identify growth opportunities for retail expansion and negotiate for the best terms to ensure profitability objectives are met

Business Plans

  1. Annual Business Planning (Trade Partners)
  • Initiate annual trade meetings with business partners to review previous year performance and jointly set goals for the year
  • Lead sales team to review quarterly with trade partners, re-strategise and initiate plans/programs to drive sales
  • Drive and ensure activities (e.g. In-store GWPs, Co-operative Advertising, etc) logged in the business plan calendar are executed by team in a professional, timely and most effective manner

     2. Annual Budgeting (Company)

  • Review and analyse sales trends and plan forward the new budget TO for all distribution channels, by brand and overall
  • Engage in manpower (FTE) planning with HR for yearly budgets
  • Plan and budget for Counter Decoration, In-store GWP and Co-operative promotion expenses and all other counter set-up costs

Counter Presentation

  1. Best location - negotiate with trade partners to secure the best possible locations for new counters or re-allocation of existing counters befitting our leadership position at all times
  2. Oversee team in the execution plan on new product launch and events, staffing, VM displays and all marketing materials

Inventory Management at Counters

  1. Direct sales team, together with Demand Planner and Assortment Manager to ensure optimal merchandising mix at the various stores
  2. In the case of consignment operations, ensure that appropriate safety measures such as designated stock rooms are built or allocated by business partners to ensure safety of stocks, thereby reducing risks of possible pilferage

Trade Margin Negotiation

  1. Negotiate actively with business partners for best possible trade margins so that the Company’s profit interest is being protected

Competitors’ Activities / Market Intelligence

  1. Ensure team provides constant monitoring and report on department stores and competitors’ activities, pertaining to turnover, promotional campaigns and personnel changes. Any known plans by trade/competitors in relation to the above should be escalated and discussed on counter programs

Outstanding Debt Status of Business Partners

  1. Liaise with the Finance Dept for follow up on outstanding accounts (eg credit management, block order) so as to ensure that Company is paid according to agreed trade terms
  2. Represent the Company and resolve with respective trade when debt status becomes doubtful

Others

  1. Perform any other duties or be engaged in ad-hoc projects assigned from time to time.

 

Your ideal profile:

  • Degree or higher in a Sales, Marketing or related field
  • 8-10 years of experience in Sales Management in Retail or FMCG industries
  • Proven track record of achieving sales targets
  • Strong leadership and team building skills
  • Good analytical and quantitative skills
  • Able to communicate well in English and local languages
  • Strength in problem solving, issue resolution, and ability to work in a deadline-driven work environment
  • Fluent in Microsoft Excel
